Chat with Sofía and the characters
Type or send a voice message. They reply in the language you are learning, at your level, and fix your mistakes without stopping the conversation.
- 03
Video call your tutor
Talk to Sofía face to face with live captions and a hint one tap away. Try five short calls for free; Pro gives you up to 25 minutes a day.
Good to know
This is Mainland Mandarin in simplified characters. Pinyin sits over every character, in lessons, chat captions and calls, so you can always say what you read. The first chapters teach the four tones and your first characters (51 cards on pinyin, tones and characters).
Questions about this course
Can I practise speaking Chinese with an AI tutor?
Yes. You can chat with Sofía and the other characters in Mandarin by text or voice message, and video call Sofía with live captions and pinyin. They reply at your level and correct you kindly as you go.
Do I need to know Chinese characters to start?
No. The course starts with pinyin and the four tones, then your first characters, built from pictures. Pinyin stays over every character, so you can read everything aloud from day one.
How many words will I know after A2?
About 776 words and phrases by the end of A2 (398 by the end of A1), each one heard in Sofía's voice and used in conversation.
Is the Chinese course free?
Yes, to start: five lessons a day, chats with every character and five short video calls to try. Flowzy Pro adds unlimited lessons and up to 25 minutes of video calls a day.
