Flowzy Talk is made by Flowzy FZC, C1 Building, Ajman Free Zone, Ajman, United Arab Emirates (TRN 105181836500003) ("Flowzy", "we", "us"). This policy explains what personal data the Flowzy Talk app ("the App") collects, why, who processes it on our behalf, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it. Section 11 covers the creators and partners in our partner programme.
The short version: we collect what the App needs to teach you a language and keep your progress, we send your conversations to an AI provider so a tutor can reply, we delete your voice recordings as soon as they are transcribed, we do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
1. Data we collect#
1.1 Account#
- Email address and a password (stored only as a hash), or the identity we receive from Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In (an email address and, if you allow it, your name). If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we receive the relay address Apple gives us.
- Display name (optional).
1.2 Your learning profile#
When you set up the App you tell us the language you are learning, the language you speak, your level, why you are learning, your gender (optional: used so the tutor addresses you correctly in languages that require it), which tutor style you prefer and whether the tutor should speak first. We also store your device's time zone, which is what makes your daily streak turn over at your midnight rather than ours.
1.3 Conversations#
- Messages you type to the AI tutor and the AI characters, and their replies.
- Voice messages and call audio: when you hold to talk or speak during a videocall, the App records your voice and uploads the clip so it can be transcribed. The clip is deleted as soon as the transcription is done; only the transcribed text is kept, as part of the conversation.
- Characters you create: their name, age, description and, if you add one, a portrait photo from your photo library.
1.4 Learning activity#
Which lessons you complete, which answers you get right or wrong, which words you have seen and how well you know them, and when. This is what drives your streak, your word list and the spaced-repetition review.
We also record how you use the App: how long it is open, when the upgrade screen is shown and what opened it, whether a purchase you start goes through or is cancelled, and how you answer the question about reminders. We study this learning activity and usage in aggregate to improve the App: to find lessons that are too hard, where people stop, and which features are used. It is not used to profile you for marketing, and it is not shared with any analytics or advertising company.
1.5 Purchases#
If you subscribe to Flowzy Pro, the purchase happens through the App Store or Google Play. We receive a record of the subscription (product, status, expiry) through our subscription provider, never your payment details. If you enter a referral code, we store which code you used.
If the code you entered belongs to a creator in our creator programme and you then pay for Flowzy Pro, we report each payment to Referly, the platform that runs that programme, so the creator can be paid their commission (see section 3).
1.6 Reports you send us#
If you report a problem with a lesson or with a reply from a character, we store what you reported, the item concerned, and the App version and platform you were using.
1.7 Crash reports#
If the App crashes or runs into an error, it sends a report to Sentry, our error-monitoring provider: the error and where in the App's code it happened, your device model, operating system and App version, and the App's last few steps before it (screens, taps, and network requests with their parameters removed). Sentry's software also generates a random identifier for the installation, so one problem on one device is counted once. A crash report contains no account identifier, email address or name, and we do not link it to your account.
1.8 What we do not collect#
We do not collect your location, contacts, health data, advertising identifier, browsing history, or any data from other apps. The App contains no advertising and no tracking SDK. Apart from your account, the only identifier the App creates is the random installation identifier in crash reports (1.7).
2. Why we use it#
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis (EEA/UK) |
|---|---|---|
| Creating and securing your account, signing you in | Account data | Contract |
| Teaching you: lessons, progress, streak, word review | Learning profile, learning activity | Contract |
| Replying to you as a tutor or character, in text and in calls | Messages, voice recordings (transcribed), learning profile, display name | Contract |
| Running your Flowzy Pro subscription and referral rewards | Purchase record, referral code | Contract |
| Paying the creator whose code you entered | The code, the amount of each payment after store fees, your email address and the name on your account | Legitimate interest (paying the creators who bring learners to Flowzy, and taking the commission back if you are refunded) |
| Sending reminders you have turned on | Nothing leaves your device: reminders are scheduled locally | Consent (device notification permission) |
| Fixing problems you report | Reports | Legitimate interest (keeping the App working) |
| Finding and fixing crashes and errors | Crash reports | Legitimate interest (keeping the App working) |
| Improving the App, from how it is used in aggregate | Learning activity and App usage | Legitimate interest (improving the App) |
| Responding when you contact us | Your message and address | Legitimate interest |
| Meeting legal obligations, resolving disputes | Whatever is relevant | Legal obligation / legitimate interest |
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling for marketing, or automated decisions with legal effect.
3. Who processes your data#
We run the App on infrastructure provided by the companies below. Each acts as our processor, under contract, only on our instructions.
| Provider | What they do for us | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase, Inc. | Hosts our database, authentication, file storage and server code | All of the data in section 1 |
| OpenAI, L.L.C. | Generates the tutor's and characters' replies; transcribes your voice recordings | Your messages, your voice recordings, the transcribed text, and the learning-profile facts the tutor needs (your name, level, languages, learning reason). OpenAI does not use data sent through its API to train its models. |
| Cartesia AI, Inc. | Turns the tutor's replies into speech | The text to be spoken. No identifier of you is sent. |
| RevenueCat, Inc. | Manages subscriptions across the App Store and Google Play | Your account identifier, subscription status, the referral code you used, and standard device/app information their SDK collects |
| Apple Inc. / Google LLC | Sign-in (if you choose it); payment for Flowzy Pro | Handled under their own privacy policies |
| Referly Technologies, LLC | Runs our creator programme: credits each payment to the creator whose code was used, and pays their commission | Only if you entered a creator's code and then pay for Flowzy Pro: the code, the amount of each payment after store fees, your email address and the name on your account. Creators do not see your email address or name. |
| Resend, Inc. | Sends our transactional email (account emails, problem reports) | Your email address and the message |
| Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry) | Receives crash and error reports so we can find and fix problems | The crash report described in section 1.7, stored in Sentry's European Union data region (Germany) |
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with anyone else, except where the law requires it or to protect our rights.
4. Where your data is stored#
Our database and files are hosted by Supabase in the European Union, and crash reports are stored by Sentry in the European Union (Germany). Our AI, speech and subscription providers process data in the United States, and our creator-programme platform (Referly) may also process data outside the EEA. Where data leaves the EEA or the UK we rely on the providers' Standard Contractual Clauses.
5. How long we keep it#
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Voice recordings | Seconds: deleted automatically once transcribed |
| Account, learning profile, learning activity and App usage, conversations, characters | As long as your account exists |
| Purchase records | As long as your account exists, and afterwards as required for tax and accounting |
| Records of payments credited to a creator (held by us and by Referly) | As long as needed to pay the creator, and afterwards as required for tax and accounting |
| Problem reports | Kept after account deletion, with your identity removed, because the problem with the lesson or the model is still real |
| Crash reports | Up to 90 days, then deleted by Sentry |
| Email correspondence | Up to 2 years |
A short summary is also available on our Data Retention page.
6. Deleting your account#
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, in the App: Profile → Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, your learning profile and activity, your conversations, your voice files, your characters and their portraits. It is not reversible.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Flowzy Pro subscription: subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, or you will keep being billed.
If you cannot use the App, email support@flowzy.ai from the address on your account and we will delete it for you within 30 days.
7. Your rights#
Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or to stop a particular use of it, by emailing support@flowzy.ai. If you are in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland, Brazil, California or another place with a data-protection law, you have these rights by law, and the right to complain to your supervisory authority. We will answer within one month.
8. Children#
Flowzy Talk is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. In the EEA and UK the minimum age is 16, or the age your country sets for consenting to online services. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
9. Security#
Data travels between the App and our servers over encrypted connections (TLS). Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Voice recordings and character portraits are stored in private buckets that only your own account can read. Access to production data is restricted to the people who operate the service.
10. This website and Google Analytics#
This website (flowzytalk.com) uses Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to understand how visitors find and use our pages. It records information such as the pages you view, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and referring website, and it stores cookies in your browser.
Google Analytics only loads after you accept analytics cookies in our cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics script is loaded and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site, and you can also install Google's opt-out browser add-on. Google's own privacy policy explains how it processes this data. The App itself contains no analytics.
11. Creators and partners in our partner programme#
This section applies if you are a creator, teacher or other partner in the Flowzy Talk partner programme (the creator programme mentioned in sections 1.5 and 3), if you apply to join it, or if we contact you about it.
What we collect and see.
- When you apply or we get in touch: your name, email address and other contact details you give us, the languages you work in, your channels or platforms and their public details (such as channel name, audience size, links and the business contact details you publish), and our messages and notes about working together. We find some creators ourselves, from details they have made public for business enquiries, such as a YouTube channel or podcast page.
- From Referly: Referly runs the programme's affiliate dashboard, and we can see the data in your affiliate account there: your name and email address, your codes and links, the referrals and payments credited to you, your commission, starting bonus and payouts, and, if you bring other partners into the programme, which partners joined through you and what is credited to them. Learners stay anonymous to you: you see payments credited to your code, not who made them.
- If you use our partner workspace (partner.flowzytalk.com): your account (name, email address, and a password stored only as a hash), and the creators, notes and messages you add there.
We do not receive your bank or payout details: Referly collects and handles those under its own terms and privacy policy.
Why we use it. To review applications, contact creators about the programme, create and track your codes, pay your commission and starting bonus, support you, and prevent abuse such as self-referral. Our legal basis is the contract with you once you join, and our legitimate interest in finding and contacting creators who may want to join and in keeping the programme fair.
Who processes it. Referly Technologies, LLC (affiliate dashboard, tracking and payouts), Neon, Inc. (the partner workspace's database) and Vercel Inc. (hosting the partner workspace and its files). They process data in the United States, under the Standard Contractual Clauses described in section 4.
How long we keep it. As long as you take part in the programme, and afterwards as long as needed to settle payments and as tax and accounting law requires. If we contacted you and you did not join, we keep your details for up to 2 years after our last contact. You can ask us to delete them, or to stop contacting you, at any time.
Your rights under section 7 apply in full: email support@flowzy.ai.
12. Changes#
We will post any change to this policy here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will tell you in the App before it takes effect.
